Despite the scale of the issue, only 1.6% of all philanthropic funding is directed toward ending gendered violence, with a mere 0.5% allocated to women and girls of color. Meanwhile, critical services are being dismantled and defunded —education, healthcare, housing, equitable economic pathways, trauma-informed care, legal advocacy, reproductive choice, and other critical institutional supports that prevent exploitation and create meaningful pathways for survivors.

Women, girls and gender expansive people—especially those from historically marginalized communities—are facing rising levels of vulnerability with fewer and fewer accessible resources.

With escalating divestment from the ecosystems of care that prevent and respond to economic, gender, and racial injustice, we don’t just stall progress, we expand and normalize the very conditions where exploitation and violence thrive.
